The Sad Loss of Laurence Powell
It's a sad duty to write that GBPS, photography and the world have lost Laurence Powell, he passed away last week.
Loz (as most people in the club knew him) was an active member of GBPS, an active photographer and the first to volunteer whenever there was a task at hand.
The club know him as great ambassador, many in the club remember him as the first person to approach them and say hello.
Our Vice Chairman, Simon Page "I was always very close to Laurence, I remember him coming to the club for the first time, a very enthusiastic photographer and keen to improve. We hit it off immediately as he wanted to know all about Photoshop and how to use it, he was always asking me for advice and I helped him set up his computers and printers right up till the end, you will be missed old pal, very much."
Club Secretary Margaret Williams commented "Lawrence was one of the nicest gentlemen I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was passionate about our club, would always be one of the first to welcome new members and was one of the few that was always on hand to help with anything we do. He was a kind and gentle man who will leave a great void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. I will miss him very much R.I.P my friend x"
