Thursday 6th April saw Great Barr Photographic Society host 'An evening with Salli Gainsford Fnps'
The extremely talented photographer shared her inspiring photographic journey with us alongside some amazing images and was a presentation not to be missed.
Right from the beginning of the talk, Salli's passion for her work was evident as she explained how many of her shoots came about and the people and animals that were involved in them. Many of the models have worked with Salli for years and had never been photographed before meeting her. Likewise the stunning animals used in the photoshoots are now regulars for her workshops.
The season began with a return to the Great Barr Social club for Thursday meetings and the resumption of what we have always regarded as normal activities.
As ever, competitions proved to be popular with members, and the judges provided lots of positive feedback on the entries. It was also pleasing that so many judges praised the overall standard of the entries. Face to face meetings enabled a welcome return for the colour and mono print competitions giving members the chance to enjoy a range of printed images, in addition to the DPI competition that had been able to continue through lockdown. As the season started to draw to a close, the annual competitions took place leading to the prestigious best-of-the-best event that pitches the winning images from all events across the season against each other.
On the 1st of December our room is unavailable to us.
But we have zoom! We can still meet up.

GBPS played host to Cannock PS last night for the first battle of our season.
And it couldn't have gone better, we clinched the win 317 to 307
There were some great images by both clubs and is often said (but is definitely the case) it could've gone either way.
Thanks to Cannock for popping out (it was a fair old journey) and many thanks to our Judge, Mike Sharples.
